R-2233AA and AB Sections Rutherford County Dear Mr. Swain: On August 23, 2011, I inspected the construction work on the US Highway 221 Project, R-2233AA and AB Sections, in Rutherford County. Construction continues along most of the project with heavy grading, bridge construction, pipe installation and roadbed preparation. Please ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and seeding and mulching are performed as required to protect State surface waters. Gravel has been placed on the new roadway north and south of the Broad River. All areas that have been graded and no construction has taken place in the last 14 days should be seeded and mulched. All sediment and erosion control structures/devices should be checked for proper operation including the silt fence. Also, clean around waddles and drop inlets. Sediment should be removed from the stream near Station 233+00. Repair and maintain all erosion control devices and continue with seeding and matting as required to protect State surface waters. Please ensure that installation of sediment and erosion control devices are keeping pace with the construction. All sediment and erosion control structures/devices should be checked for proper operation including the silt fence. Also, check all waddles and drop inlets. All areas that have been graded and no construction has taken place in the last 14 days should be seeded and mulched. Remove sediment from basin at Station 323+00 and seed slopes north of that Station. Remove sediment from basin on the northeast side of railroad track at Station 300+00. Repair and maintain all erosion control devices and continue with seeding and matting as required to protect State surface waters. R2233AB Inspection Report August 2011
