R-2233AA and AB Sections Rutherford County Dear Mr. Swain: On June 13, 2011, 1 inspected the construction work on the US Highway 221 Project, R-2233AA and AB Sections, in Rutherford County. Construction continues along most of the project with heavy grading and bridge construction on the AA Section and heavy grading along the AB Section. Please ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and seeding and mulching are performed as required to protect State surface waters. The new Broad River Bridge has been completed. Sediment is entering the stream at Station 41+00. Sediment should be removed from this stream up and downstream of [he culvert. Notified on June 24, 201 I that the sediment had been removed. All areas that have been graded and no construction has taken place in the last 14 days should be seeded and mulched. All sediment and erosion control structures/devices should be checked for proper operation including the silt fence. Any off-site sediment should be removed and the site remediated. Repair and maintain all erosion control devices and continue with seeding and matting as required to protect State surface waters.
