RE: US 64 Bypass Temporary Impact Sites, Washington & Tyrrell Counties, CAMA Permit No. 166-00, TIP
No. R-2548A&E.
Dear Mr. Harris:
This letter is in response to the N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) letter dated September 10, 2010
regarding the US 64 Bypass Temporary Impact Sites in Washington & Tyrrell Counties.
Condition No. 29 of CAMA Permit No. 166-00 which was issued on October 30, 2000 requires that NCDOT
conduct monitoring to ensure that the wetland areas temporarily impacted by this project re-attain jurisdictional
wetland status. The N.C. Division of Coastal Management (DCM) has reviewed the annual monitoring reports
prepared by NCDOT in 2008 and 2009. DCM has also attended an interagency site visit on August 26, 2010 with
NCDOT, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) and the
N.C. Division of Water Quality (DWQ). Based upon this review, DCM agrees that no further monitoring is
required and that the site may be officially closed.
Please contact Cathy Brittingham at (919) 733-2293 x238 or via e-mail at Cathy.Brittin¢ham@ncdenr.gov if you
have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Doug Huggett
