GOVERNOR SECRETARY May 16, 201 1 Attention: Bill Biddlecome U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Field Office Post Office Box 1000 Washington, N.C. 27889-1000 Dear Mr. Biddlecome, 11®475 The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the issuance of a NW 14 permit and corresponding DWQ 401 certification, for stream impacts associated with a pipe extension and road way widening of NC 46 in Northampton County. The proposed pipe extension will result in 20 feet of permanent intermittent stream impacts: The road widening will also require the relocation of an existing roadside drainage feature that carries intermittent water flow from a headwater wetland. This will result in 156 feet of temporary impact to this road side drainage feature. The feature will be relocated as shown on the provided drawings. The newly constructed roadside ditch will function in the same capacity as the existing drainage feature. The road shoulder widening will also impact 118 sq. feet of a roadside drainage wetland feature. This wetland is part of the headwater wetland system and has been confined to a linear alignment between two industrial sites. The PCN, vicinity map, aerial photographs and permit drawings are included with this letter. If you need any additional information or have any questions concerning this project please call me at 252-482- 7977. W BS# for permit fee 4183 Sincerely, Clay Willis Division One En nonmental Officer Cc: Garcy Ward, NCDWQ Sonia Carrillo, NCDWQ 113 Airport Drive, Suite 100, Edenton, NC 27932, Phone (252)-482-7977, Fax (252)-482-8722 Oc ?F W A7E9OG > ti 5 < Office Use Only: Corps action ID no.
