Joann Steinhause - Department Water Quality
An impromptu conference was conducted at the NCDENR office on July 12`h to follow
up on the placement of a retaining wall and riprap at the foot of Nun Street.
These are design changes that need to occur to support the railing system and were
not shown on the current CAMA Permit. Bob Stroud acknowledged that as long as
things were above the coastal marsh and mean high water he didn't have any issues
with it, but recommended that Joann Steinhause go out in the field to evaluate it further.
I met with Joann Steinhouse in the field today July 16`h at the site. She evaluated the
conditions and also agreed that as long as improvements were made above the coastal
marsh areas then there would not be an issue. She did request that we provide a
courtesy copy of the retaining wall detail and a note that this would be attached to the
current CAMA Permit as a design change. These have been provided as an
attachment to this memo and distributed.
