SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW Brief description of review activities, results of review, and conclusions: The maps and files at the OSA were reviewed for this project on 1/27/2011. There are no previously documented archaeological sites in the APE, based upon reviewing OSA quad mapping, no are there previous environmental reviews or surveys. The CRS also reviewed photographs, various mapping, including soils, and design plans submitted by the Division 2 Environmental Program Supervisor. Additionally, Pitt County mapping from the 1938 Highway Commission maps was reviewed for any details of particular cultural or industrial interest. No further work is recommended. Note, cemeteries in the local vicinity should not be affected by this undertaking, as currently planned Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting that there are no unidentified historic properties in the APE. It is unlikely that undocumented, significant archaeological sites are located in the limited and previously disturbed APE. See 10-12-0006 for adjacent project. SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW Brief description of review activities, results of review, and conclusions: Review of HPO quad maps, historic designations roster, and indexes was undertaken on 12 January 2011. Based on this review, there are no existing NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects. Google Maps "Street View" confirms the absence of historic structures in the APE. Current Pitt County GIS mapping further confirms the absence of historic structures within the APE. St. John's Church, (PT 69, NR) is just north of the APE but the property does not fall within the APE. Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting that there are no unidentified historicproperties in the APE: The Pitt County Survey was updated in 1991 and is considered valid for the purposes of determining the likelihood of historic resources being present. Google Maps "Street View" and current Pitt County GIS mapping are also considered valid for determining the likelihood of historic resources being present.
