HomeMy WebLinkAbout19970093 Ver 5_Maps_20001208NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED NORTH CAROLINA GLOBAL TRANSPARK RAIL ACCESS TIP Project No. U-29286 Lenoir County The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above Public Hearing on Thursday, February 19, 2009 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the North Carolina Global TransPark Center -Room 148 located on 3800 Highway 58 North, Kinston, 28504. Department of Transportation representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to submit written comments or questions also will be provided. Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours. No formal presentation will be made. This project is located in Kinston, and proposes to provide a new single- track railroad access from the North Carolina Railroad/Norfolk Southern Railroad (NCRR/NS) main -line (near US 70), north across Hull Road (SR 1557), Dobbs Farm Road (SR 1573), and C.F. Harvey Parkway (SR 2010) to terminate within the North Carolina Global TransPark. This rail access is proposed to carry freight into, and out of, the TransPark for a variety of manufacturing and industrial facilities. The initial rail traffic will be large aircraft components moving at a relatively low frequency from the Spirit AeroSystems site. The approximate length of the project is 5.7 miles. A map displaying the location and design of the project and a copy of the environmental document — Environmental Assessment (EA) — is available for public review at the City of Kinston Planning Department located at 207 E. King St, Kinston; NC Global TransPark - Administrative Conference Room located at 2780 Jetport Road, Suite A, Kinston; and at the NCDOT District Office located at 1629 Hwy. 258 South, Kinston. Additional material may be submitted until March 9, 2009. NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this workshop.
