We have a preliminary meeting with PL reps and COE on March 12 at
1000 Hrs. Ron Johnson will be doing the feasibility study for the
landfill. This has been locally a big political and very publicized
landfill. When I was with Forsyth County, they applied for the
permits and it was indicated at a commissioners briefing (I was
there) that they would only take material from the two counties.
That has not been the case so here we go (interstate commerce clause
of the Constitution). This is not far from Belews Cr. Lake and the upper
stretches of the Haw and there are really nice BHW in the area.
Anyway they want to relocate a creek. If you or John can go, it may
be beneficial. I do not know exact location or stream but have
requested a map. Will share what I find out.
Probably best to meet you at site so you can go 68 north towards Oak
Ridge, left on Linville Rd, left Haw River Rd, right on Goodwill
Church Rd to landfill office. Yes, my relatives are buried at Goodwill
Church on Forsyth County side. Landfill is in both counties.
