WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA 28402-1890 ; IN REPLY REFER TO September 14, 1993 ! WATWMMIDS GROUP Regulatory Branch Action ID. 199303109 Mr. Jack Ward State of North Carolina Department of Transportation Planning and Environmental Branch Post Office Box 25201 Raleigh, North Carolina 27611-5201 Dear Mr. Ward: Reference your July 7, 1993 request for Department of the Army (DA) authorization to construct two pump stations and install a 6-inch sewer force main and a 6-inch water main at the I-77 Rest Area in Iredell County, North Carolina. On August 16, 1993 we received the preliminary plans for the above project. Based on these plans and our onsite inspection, no DA permit will be required because no waters of the United States will be impacted by the project. Please be aware that there are wetlands present outside the chain link fence surrounding the property on the west side of the interstate. The wetlands are associated with a headwaters tributary to Lake Norman. However, because the plans do not indicate any work to be done in this area, no DA permit will be required. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Steve Chapin in our Asheville Regulatory Office at (704) 271-4014. Sincerely, G.
