THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELLS AND ALL OTHER PERMANENT FEATURES AGAINST DAMAGE DUE TO CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. ANY WELLS OR OTHER FEATURES THAT ARE DAMAGED BY THE CONTRACTOR OR ITS SUBCONTRACTORS SHALL BE REPLACED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO RAILROAD FRICTION PRODUCTS CORPORATION. 6. THE GENERAL NOTES AND LEGEND PROVIDED ON THIS SHEET APPLY TO ALL DRAWINGS, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED. 7. A 40-mil high-density polyethylene (HDPE) liner with a geocomposite drainage laver will be used to cap the landfill. A 12-inch-thick soil cover to support root growth of the vegetation and protect the geotextile/liner and a 6-inch-thick topsoil laver (vegetative laver) will be placed over the drainage laver. The equipment used will likely be bulldozers, graders and other earth moving equipment. Approximately 1,150 cubic yards of impacted sediment will be excavated from the adjacent wetland and associated intermittent drainage ditch and spread over the landfill material (see Figure 3-4)-. The landfill will then be capped as described above. The wetland and intermittent drainage ditch will be restored to original elevations by backfilling with 1,150 cubic yards of suitable on-site material. 11. Explain the purpose of the proposed work: The purpose of the sediment excavation activities is to remove sediments impacted with lead associated with runoff from the landfill. The purpose of constructing a cap over the existing landfill is to control surface-water runoff, control infiltration of precipitation, and reduce leachate production from the landfill. IV. The stormwater management design allows for increased detention time of the water to reduce total suspended solids prior to discharge from the wetlands. The stormwater design consists of the following features: ¦ Perimeter channels, which conveys stormwater from the James Landfill to the adjacent wetlands. The majority (i.e., greater than 75%) of the landfill drains to the north, less than 25% of the landfill drains to the south. ¦ The stormwater runoff from the landfill that is conveyed to the north is conveyed to a plunge pool prior to discharge in the wetlands. ¦ The southern perimeter channel contains three check dams. ¦ A stormwater diversion berm is constructed in the wetlands adjacent to the southern outfall to increase the detention time of the stormwater in the wetlands.
