Project Summary The applicant proposes to construct 3 floating docks, a weigh station approx. 780 sq ft. and a gazebo, for commercial fishing charter boats Water Street Associates, Inc. Page 2 9. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project site is located at the junction of Causeway Drive and Waynick Boulevard off of US 76 along Banks Channel, Wrightsville Beach, New Hanover County. The tract is approximately 19,200 sq ft. This site is presently known as Wynn Plaza and functions as a Wrightsville Beach Park. Three or four years ago the site was the home of several charter fishing boats. Water Street Associates, Inc. has entered into an agreement with the Town of Wrightsville Beach, to lease the property for commercial purposes. The high ground of the property consist of a small building, a concrete walk along the shoreline measuring approximately 12'x127, there is also another building located on the southwest corner of the property. Most of the land is landscaped with grassed vegetation, the western portion of the lot is paved and served as a parking area. The entire shoreline is bulkhead. There is an existing wood groin located on the south side that extend waterward approximately 70' below the mhw. The waters in the area are classified as SB, Secondary Nursery and are closed to shellfishing. The average water depth is + 11'. The applicant proposes to develop this area into a commercial site for 4 charter °°'fishn boats as ,. well _ as trans gk. transient docking. Proposed =are three floating docks, the southern most, will, measure approximately 6'X48' with.,-a.--, ramp measuring 3'x12' the center one will measure approximately .6x32`' with an access ramp measuring 3'x12' and the northern one will measure approximately 6'x32' with an access ramp of 3'x12'. Also proposed is a game fish weigh station located on the south end of the lot and an open air pavillon measuring approximately 24'x15'. 10. ANTICIPATED 11HPACT The floating dock system will impact approximately 780 sq ft. of open water, but is, within, the Town of Wrightsville Beach pier head alignment. No long term significant impact is expected from the overall project. Submitted by: Marc Botbol Date: August 23, 1989 Office: Wilmington Please type or print.
