Avoidance and Minimization 1 a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing project. To minimize impacts we will be removing the existing damaged culvert for 250 feet and replacing this with an open channel to convey intermittent stormwater flows. The channel has been designed to carry the appropriate design storm without eroding at the bottom or on the stream banks. Use of rip rap has been minimized and vegetation has been specified. The replacement culvert beneath the roadway will be embedded. 1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques. During construction the damaged culvert will be removed and a new channel constructed. Sediment and erosion control will be used to protect the downstream waters during construction. The channel will be constructed and restored with natural vegetation. 2. Compensatory Mitigation for Impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State 2a.
