Project Summary The applicants propose to install a subaqueous force main across Barnards Creek in the right-of-way of SR 1100 and to construct a lift station adjacent to the wetlands of the Creek. New Hanover County - Water and Sewer District Page 2 9. Project Description The proposed project will be located on the east side of SR 1100 within the Barnards Creek waters shed in New Hanover County. This creek is classified as SC and is classed as inland waters and is a tributary of the Cape Fear River. There are brackish marshes associated with the creek in this location. These species include Typha spp. and Spartina cynocoroides. These are only a relative few stems within the alignment of the pipeline crossing. The creek is approximately 80' wide in the project area. The applicants are proposing to install a force main and a lift station within the project area. The proposed 18" force main will be installed within the right-of-way of SR 1100. There will be a subaqueous crossing of Barnards Creek. The depth of the creek at this location is approximately -6' MSL. The crossing depth of the line is approximately -10' MSL. The line will be installed by trenching and backfilling. The lift station will be constructed above the wetland elevation. The application was modified in order to avoid filling Corps wetlands with the structure. 10. Anticipated Impacts Provided that all excavated spoils are placed on high ground and suitable material is used to backfill the subaqueous trench, no significant adverse impacts will result from proposed project. .
