Estuarine waters 3,000 sq.ft. (D) Total area disturbed: 5,820 sq.ft. 8. Project summary The applicant proposes to build a 310' bulkhead two feet waterward of an existing deteriorated bulkhead. There is a 40' break in the old bulkhead with a 130' long by 40' wide eroded area landward of the break that is to be backfilled. 11 Environmental setting The project is located in Beaufort County on the Pamlico River in the Ribbitt Creek Subdivision off SR 1730. The site has a low 4-5' bluff and is vegetated with upland vines, shrubs, and trees. There are no coastal wetlands present and no commercial shellfish resources in the vicinity. The project is located in estuarine waters and estuarine shoreline AFC's. Proiect proposal The applicant proposes to build a 310' long bulkhead two feet waterward of an existing deteriorated bulkhead, a 40' section of which has been destroyed. Landward of this break there is an eroded area 130' long by 40' wide that is to be filled after bulkhead construction. There are existing bulkheads on both adjacent properties and the new bulkhead is proposed to connect with them. Environmental impact The proposed bulkhead and associated backfill will impact an area of + 2,820 sq.ft. of estuarine shoreline and + 3,000 sq.ft. of estuarine waters behind the bulkhead break.
