We recommend that the following conditions be included in the State authorization: a. The structure will be properly maintained. b. The structure and associated activity will not cause an unacceptable interference with navigation. c. The possibility exists that the structure may be subject to damage by wave wash from passing vessels. The issuance of this permit does not relieve the permittee from taking all proper steps to ensure the integrity of the structure and the safety of moored boats from damage by wave wash,and the permittee will not hold the United States liable for any such damage. Environmental settin The applicant owns a 200' long by 100' wide lot at Bayview on the Pamlico River. Located on the lot is a single family dwelling which is served by an existing septic tank sewage disposal system. Also located on the lot is a pier which has attached to it a 24' by 20' open sided boat house. Many piers and boat houses are present upstream and downstream of the applicant's property. The property is not bulkheaded, and no wetland vegetation exists at the site. Project proposal The applicant is proposing to replace the existing 24' x 20' boat house with a new 30' x 30' open sided boat house. The boat house will be connected to the existing pier. Environmental impact The project as proposed should have a minimal environmental impact. No wetland vegetation will be excavated and/or filled. + 900 sq.ft. of open water area will be covered by the boat house; this is 420 sq.ft. more than is being covered by the existing boat house. The structure should not cause a navigation problem along the shoreline. Similar structures are present upstream and downstream of the project area. David L.
