Dear Ms. Allen,
On June 11, 2015, the Division of Water Resources (DWR) received a close -out packet from you on
behalf of the Division of Mitigation Services (DMS) requesting approval to close -out the subject
site from monitoring. On June 16, 2015, Katie Merritt with DWR visited the subject site to assess
the vegetation and overall site conditions. On June 17, 2015, Ms. Merritt requested additional
information to be submitted with the final close -out request. More specifically, Ms. Merritt
requested that the report include the additional cattle - exclusion areas to be considered for buffer
mitigation credit as well as the widths and ratios of each mitigation area. On August 4, 2015, Ms.
Merritt received a final close -out report.
As a result of Ms. Merritt's review of the close -out request, the following mitigation is approved:

Buffer mitigation credits generated from buffer restoration can be used as either buffer mitigation
credits or nutrient offset credits, but not both. Buffer mitigation credits generated from buffer
enhancement via cattle exclusion cannot be used for nutrient offset credits.
Please feel free to contact Katie Merritt at (919) 807 -6371 if you have any questions regarding this
correspondence.
