Department of Transportation 1598 Mail Service Center Raleigh,NC 27699-1598 RE: TIP No. R-2414A, US 158 widening,Camden County, CAMA Major Permit No. 03-09. Dear Mr. Harris: This letter is in response to the annual monitoring report prepared by the N.C. Department of Transportation(NCDOT) in 2014 for the US 158 Temporary Impact Site in Camden County. The report summarizes the results of NCDOT's vegetation monitoring of the temporary impacts to Coastal Wetlands associated with the construction of TIP No. R-2414A, US 158 widening, in Camden County, CAMA Major Permit No. 03-09, which was issued for this highway project on January 12,2009,includes a permit condition that requires NCDOT to monitor the temporarily impacted Coastal Wetland areas to determine if they re-attain pre-project wetland functions. The N.C. Division of Coastal Management (DCM)has reviewed the annual monitoring report. Within the annual monitoring report,NCDOT states that the US 158 Temporary Impact Site shows by visual observation that the temporarily impacted areas have re-attained their pre-project wetland functions, and NCDOT proposes to discontinue monitoring. DCM also attended a site visit with NCDOT on May 1,2015. Based upon this review,DCM agrees that the CAMA permit requirements have been met,and that no further monitoring is required.
