This site is being utilized by the North Carolina Department of Transportation as compensatory mitigation for wetland impacts associated with project R-0210C. By copy of this letter, we are notifying you that no further monitoring of the site will be required since the construction and success criteria for the mitigation site has been met. Located in Lee County, adjacent to the US 1 Vass Bypass at Sta. 22+00 at the intersection of Service Road and Oak Leaf road, this site provides 980 linear feet of stream relocation for impacts associated with the R-021OC project. The stream relocation was constructed and revegetated with appropriate hardwood species. Per permit requirements, NCDOT was required to monitor the stream mitigation site for channel stability by visual observation on a biannual basis for five yeazs or until success .criteria were met. During the monitoring period, biannual monitoring reports were submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies via the PDEA Natural Environment Unit's (NEU) website: httn://www.ncdot.nr /~/preconstruct/pe/neu/Monitoring/Monitorin~portc.html EUGENE A. SECRETARY Afrer five years of vegetation and stream stability monitoring, the UT to Little Crane Creek stream relocation indicates that the planted vegetation is surviving and the streambanks remain stable at this time. It was determined at that meeting that the site success criteria had been met and that no further monitoring would be required. NCDOT requests that the appropriate resource agencies provide documentation stating that no further monitoring is required and that the site is closed.
