My name is Alan Lail & I am the owner of a residential lot located at 4190 54th Ave NE
Hickory, NC. This is shown as lot #2 of Carolina Point book 67 page 47 in the Catawba County
Register of Deeds. This request is for a Buffer Rule Approval Only.
This lot has a 10 foot drainage and utility easement extending down the west side of the
property. Rainwater during heavy storms from the adjacent lot runs across the drainage area
causing erosion to my property and erosion to the shoreline. I am proposing to improve the
drainage easement to include a tear drop diffuser area (level spreader) within the buffer zone
and also have an overflow area lined with rock. The bank drops off to the water at a steep
angle and the rock is necessary to prevent erosion in the event of a heavy storm that may
cause overflow from the diffuser area. The diffuser area will be approximately 10 to 12 feet
wide and 10 to 12 feet long and 3 to 4 feet deep with the overflow being 4 to 5 feet wide. This
would run through the buffer area to the edge of the lake. I have attached a sketch of the
proposed work.
The proposed work would be done with a track hoe excavator and all surrounding areas
impacted will be returned to their natural state as close as possible. There will be no trees
removed during this work.
