No problem on the timing - I know you are busy. If you don't mind, we would like to review the draft 401's just to help us better understand what to expect. I think we can afford a few weeks delay in the public notice. Steve Johnson Duke Energy Carolinas - Hydro Licensing 526 S. Church Street/P.O. Still digging thru old email from two week of traveling and teaching a stream class. 1. I think I'll just do all the public notices at once to keep it simpler for me. 2. 1 can have draft Certifications for you to review but that would then delay the public notice. I was basically planning on doing the public notice (and the draft 401s) on March 23rd. if you want to look them over then the public notices would be early to mid April. Please advise if that is an issue. 3. 1 plan to issue the 401s all at the same time (or the same day) pending public comment of course. 4. I'll work on the Queens Creek application soon. I am not sure how we will need to handle it until I have a chance to review it. Stay tuned. Hope this answers your questions and please advise regarding the timing. thankx From: Johnson, Steven R [mailto:Steve.Johnson@duke-energy.com] Sent: Monday, February 22, 2010 12:59 PM To: John Dorney Subject: Nantahala Area Projects Hi John - I wanted to follow up with you on the 401 Water Quality Certifications for the Nantahala Area Projects. I just had a couple of questions: 1) What schedule did you have in mind? Will you process all 6 pending Projects at the same time or in groups of 2 or 3 at a time? 2) Will we get a chance to review the draft Certifications prior to public notice? 1 3) FERC tells me that they will proceed with licenses based on the order in which you issue the 401's. Since their final EA grouped them geographically (Nantahala East and Nantahala West), I was curious if you might follow that same order with the 401's? 4) By now you have the Queens Creek Application. Since this is an amendment to an existing 401 will this be simply an administrative change? I would appreciate any thoughts or insight you may have John. I am just trying to anticipate how to prepare for the events leading up to the New Licenses. Thanks. Steve Johnson Duke Energy Carolinas - Hydro Licensing 526 S. Church Street/P.O.
