Proposed Nutrient Removal System
Nash County, North Carolina
PN: 99-262
Dear Mr. Dorney:
Please find attached for your review and comment two (2) copies of the "Nutrient
Removal System" plan located along the drainageway between Hunter Hill and Hunter's
Park Subdivision in Rocky Mount, Nash County, North Carolina. This plan proposes to
collect stormwater from the entire watershed and pass the runoff through two impounded
areas along the drainageway. These impounded areas will be created by installing rock
dams with filter fabric lining at two locations approximately 210 feet apart. The
impounded areas will be between 1.5 and 2.0 feet deep and will be utilized to increase
stormwater retention time, while the shallow depth of the impoundments will allow for
the establishment of vegetation to aid in nutrient removal. The filter fabric lining in the
rock dams will serve to remove suspended solids in the stormwater runoff. Also, the
existing drainage swale leading to and along the rear lots in Hunter Hill Subdivision will
be diverted into the drainageway upstream of the two impounded areas.
I trust you will find this Proposal acceptable. Please call me so we may discuss
this issue.
