Dear Mr. Ward,
The North Carolina Department of Transportation Ferry Division is requesting a
modification to DWQ project # 20080797 to install a 6" water line to the second
dormitory in Hatteras. A portion of the water line will be directionally bored leaving
approximately 100'. This will cost the Ferry Division app. 9,000$ to directionally bore.
The Ferry Division is asking for approval to dig with a rubber tire excavator from the
roadway a trench app. 2' wide and 100' long to tie in the water line with some areas in the
wetlands.- This could result in app. 500 sq. ft. of temporary wetland impacts. We then
propose to restore the wetlands to its natural elevation and allow the vegetation to
naturally grow back. The WBS number for this project is 41954. If you need any
