RE: Authorization Request for Nationwide Permit 12
Fayetteville 1999 Annexation - Gallup Acres and South Hills Sanitary Sewer Extensions
BLWI Project # 990954
Pertinent Facts:
Location: Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina
USGS 7.5' Quadrangle: FAYETTEVILLE
River Basin:: Cape Fear Subbasm: CPF15 03-06-15'
Nearest Stream: Beaver Creek and Buckhead Creek
Stream Index: 18-31-24-5 and 18-31-24-6
Stream Class: C and C
Wetland Impacts: 0.34
Stream Impacts: 40 linear feet
Wetland Type: bottomland hardwoods
Dear Mr. Dorney and Mr. Davis,
Enclosed is a Nationwide Permit 12 application for the Fayetteville 1999 Annexation - Gallup Acres and South
Hills Sanitary Sewer Extensions. Sewer extensions are part of the City of Fayetteville's Annexation Plan for
infrastructure development. Under the Annexation Plan, the City will eliminate thousands of individual septic
systems by extending their sanitary sewer services.
Sewer extensions will be installed within road easements in the project area wherever possible. At some
locations, wetland impacts and stream crossings will be necessary to permit the extensions to be tied into existing
sewer lines. However, care was taken with the layout of the extensions to minimize impacts to these areas.
The attachments listed at the bottom of this page should provide the necessary information for proper evaluation
of this project. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or if you need additional information.
Sincerely,
/k 40,
Mark Romaagosa

The majority of the sewer extensions will be constructed with present road rights-of-way. However, in
order to connect to existing sewer lines the extensions will need to cross through wetlands. In the design,
care was taken to minimize wetland impacts by lacing the extensions in wetlands only when it seemed
absolutely necessary In fact the original sewer layout has been realigned in several locations to avoid or
minimize wetland impacts.
