Re: Retention Pond Water Sample Results for Brownfields Permit
Glen Wilde, LLC Property,
State Farm Road,
Boone, NC 28607
Watauga County
Dear Mr. Duque:
On November 30, 2017, Seramur & Associates personnel visited the Glen Wilde, LLC site to collect a
surface water sample from the retention pond at the facility.
Water was present in the retention pond off the northwest corner of the apartment buildings. One
surface water sample was collected from the pond. The sample was collected in laboratory clean jars,
sealed with Teflon lined lids, labeled and placed on ice. A chain of custody was initiated. Samples were
shipped to Prism Laboratories in Charlotte, NC and analyzed for volatile organic compounds using EPA
Method 6200B.
Acetone was detected in the sample at a concentration on 5.3 micrograms per liter. This is an estimated
concentration as it was detected below the reporting limit (See Table B-4 and Lab Results). There is no
2B Surface Water Standard listed for acetone and this concentration is well below the 2L Groundwater
Standard of 6,000 micrograms per liter. No other organic compounds were detected in the surface water
sample collected from the retention pond. The laboratory reports and chain of custody are attached.
We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with this monitoring event. If you have any questions,
please contact me at (828) 264-0289.
Sincerely,
Keith C. Seramur, P.G.
Consulting Geologist
