(Amec Foster Wheeler)is pleased to present this Work Plan to the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR) relating to the scope ofservices to be performed at the Atherton Mill Property located in Charlotte, North Carolina (subject property). Amec Foster Wheeler proposes to collect air samples at four indoor and one outdoor locations (see attached figure).During sample collection, Unit 120 will be occupied and thebusiness located in the unit will operate normally.Amec Foster Wheeler anticipates normal operating conditions with respect to the HVAC system in this unit.The sampling scope will include the following items: The vacuum reading of each Summa canister will be recorded prior to andafter sample collection. Each sample will be collected from the normal breathing level above the floor. The samples will be collected over an 8-hour time period. Each sample will be collected into a “batch certified” 6-liter Summa canister at a flow rate of approximately 12.5 mL/min (8-hour sample time) andsubmitted to a North Carolina certified laboratory for analysis. Atherton Mill Property -Work Plan for Post-Mitigation IAQ Assessment April 22, 20152000South Boulevard,Charlotte, North CarolinaAmec Foster Wheeler Project:6228-12-0051 The indoor air samples will be maintained under a chain-of-custody protocol and submitted to a North Carolina certified laboratory for analysis of thevolatile organic compounds (VOCs) to which monitoring goals were proposed by Amec Foster Wheeler and approved by NCDENR.The following VOCs will be included for analysis:benzene, carbon tetrachloride,chloroform, 1,4-dichlorobenzene, 1,2-dichloroethane,ethyl acetate, ethylbenzene,tetrachloroethene (PCE),trichloroethene (TCE)and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene using EPA Method TO-15. Weather conditions (relative humidity, temperature, atmospheric pressure,wind speed/direction)will be recorded from a nearby, public weather station, with local wind direction and temperature at time of deployment and collection noted. The following Quality Assurance/Quality Control Procedures will be implemented relative tothe background sample: One outdoor background sample (Outside-3)will be collected from normalbreathing level above the ground. The background sample will be collected into a 6-liter Summa canister at a flow rate of approximately 12.5 mL/min (8-hour sample time). Amec Foster Wheeler will prepare a report of the results on behalf of Atherton Mill (E&A), LLC and for submittal to the Brownfields Program. We appreciate your review of this Work Plan.
