A more detailed description of the results of the inspection may be found in the attached
Lead Inspection Data Sheets. More information concerning room number and lettered
side designations can be found on the attached site drawing.
DISCUSSION
OSHA regulations do not stipulate a minimum level of lead in paint, therefore, any
amount of lead in paint is subject to regulation and will require compliance with
appropriate OSHA regulations concerning monitoring, training, work practices, etc;
Development of a program for compliance with these regulations is not within the basic
services proposed.
No method of analysis or testing of paint can verify that there is no lead in paint. Such
testing or analysis is always subject to a minimum detection limit that is greater than 0.0.
Therefore, it is not possible to determine that OSHA regulations will not apply based
upon paint testing and/or analysis alone.
Those surfaces where lead was not detected are less likely to present a risk of lead
exposure in excess of OSHA regulations than those where lead was detected but anyone
who disturbs the paint should perform an exposure assessment in compliance with OSHA
regulations.
Lead in paint may produce hazardous conditions other than those related to airborne dust
and debris. Those who work around lead-containing paints should be aware of, and
protect against, the risk of surface contamination. Such contamination may be brought
home on clothing and present a hazard to others.
LIMITATIONS
A lead-containing paint inspection is intended to identify those surfaces that contain
normally detectible levels of lead in paint. The protocols used for testing do not meet the
