HomeMy WebLinkAbout04018_Flemington Landfill_Cporter_Request to Amend_20161013Type h] Carson Porter Executive Director Wilmington Hammerheads Youth Soccer Tony Duque Brownfields Project Manager Division of Waste Management --- Brownfields NC Department of Environmental Quality October 13, 2016 Dear Mr. Duque, After discussions with you regarding the Cape Fear Soccer Park, which formerly served as the Flemington Landfill, I am formally writing to request your consideration in updating the original brownfield agreement. It is my hope that because of advancements in brownfield and landfill management there are some opportunities to review the original document and make changes. Below is a list of issues and requests, which we hope you and your staff will consider: 1. Pavement and Parking Lots – We would like the opportunity to install pavement to our parking lot. According to the old agreement, we are not permitted to use asphalt, concrete or other impervious materials. 2. Installation of permanent lighting – We would like the opportunity to install permanent athletic field lighting to our park 3. The Construction of a free---standing permanent structure – We would like the opportunity to build a permanent office or meeting structure. Thank you for your help and discussion regarding the brownfield agreement. I look forward to working with you as we continue to improve our soccer park.
