Inspector Comments
Purpose of the site visit was to document conditions of land adjacent to landfill property. An emphasis was noted at intersection of Double
Oaks Drive and Woodward Ext. See attached map. During the site visit, the strip of land between Woodard Ext and county landfill property
was being graded by small backhoe. Based on my observations, it appeared the land was being prepared for sidewalks that would be
installed in coming weeks. With ten feet of the road toward the property line, the ground was being leveled. The large rocks and majority
boulders that had previous been stored in this area had been removed (a few remain). The land across the street was being graded for new
home building construction. No homes are in the area west of landfill property. Note, the methane wells installed by NCDENR Pre-
Regulatory Landfill Program were likely destroyed during the grading operations. An underground natural gas line was recently installed in
the area. It runs along north side of woodward Ext and crosses the street at the stormwater drain. I spoke with Joey an on-site worker, he
referred me to Johnny at 704-507-1383. I called Johnny and explained that landfill waste would be removed in the coming weeks from
adjacent landfill. I was confused why they were grading this area for sidewalks since the property owners had expressed wanting debris on
the CMHP Double Oaks Property removed if found, therefore installing a sidewalk or other utilities should cease. I then placed a call to
Fred Dodson of CMHP to discuss site development. He was not available and I left a message. The redevelopment in the area is going
well. Next I drove to the Double Oaks Pool Brownfields Site for a drive by inspection. I departed the area at 12:30 pm.
Facing NE on the Property toward sign. According to the 4/29/2013 Letter this area was clear cut in June/July 2012.

A majority of rocks have been moved and land is being graded for sidewalk. Methane well was not located, likely destroyed.
