A Site Location Map is included as Figure 1. In the February 20, 2015 letter, soils were defined as impacted by containing any presence of contaminants including metals at concentrations which exceeded 2x the background mean. H&H indicated on the letter’s included Site Map where soils should be managed as impacted or non-impacted. As summarized in Table 1 of the February 20, 2015 letter (attached for reference), the soil sample collected from soil boring DPT-50 did not contain detections of contaminants or concentrations of metals greater than 2x the background mean. Therefore, this soil is not considered impacted. H&H originally included a Site Map, based on preliminary maintenance building plans, depicting the area surrounding DPT-50 as being in the indicated impacted area for the excavation contractor’s convenience to prevent construction slow-downs. Because a significant amount of impacted soil has already been disposed from the subject site, H&H has re-evaluated the area previously indicated as impacted on behalf of the City of Charlotte to reduce construction costs. Based on our evaluation, we have included a revised Site Map for your review. The revised Site Map depicts the area surrounding DPT-50 as non- impacted and includes the final maintenance building plan footprint. Ms. Carolyn Minnich December 16, 2015 Page 2 of 2 \\hhfs01.harthickman.local\masterfiles\AAA-Master Projects\Charlotte Area Transit System (CAT)\CAT-003 BLE\NSIF Assessment\New Building Plans\Report\DEQ Letter Revising Impacted Area\final building plans letter\Draft Cover Letter to DENR.docx H&H has also revised the Soil Management Plan figure, included as Figure 3, which provides a zoomed out view of the area near the maintenance building and beyond. H&H will field screen the soils removed from the DPT-50 area for indications of impacts. If indications of impacts are observed, the soil will be managed and disposed as impacted soil.
