(Geosyntec) is providing analytical results for groundwater sampling performed at the Almont Shipping II Brownfields Property (NCBP No. 23080-19-065) located at 19 & 41 Harnett Street ("Site"). The data package attached is provided with the intent to facilitate approval to discharge construction dewatering groundwater to the stormwater system for the City of Wilmington. On 2 September 2021, a test -pit was advanced at the Site to expose groundwater and facilitate collection of a groundwater sample. One groundwater sample (representative of the offered construction dewatering) was collected and analyzed for the following parameters: • chemical oxygen demand (COD) by Standard Method (SM) 5220 C-11 • biological oxygen demand (BOD) by SM 5210 B-11 • chloride by EPA Method 300/9056A • cyanide by EPA Method 335.4/9012B • oil and grease by EPA Method 1664A • nitrogen by EPA Method 350.1 • phosphorus by EPA Method 365.3 9 total suspended solids (TSS) by SM 2540 D-11 Mr. Fredric Royal and Mr. Jim Quinn 21 September 2021 Page 2 • the eight (8) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) metals by EPA Method 6010D • polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) by EPA Method 8082A • volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method 8260D • semi -volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) by EPA Method 8270E The results (detections only) are shown in the attached Table 1 and the laboratory analytical report is provided in Attachment A. Only one analyte (arsenic) was detected above its respective Title 15A North Carolina Administrative Code (NCAC) 02B Water Quality Standards for Surface Waters. However, this detection is only slightly above the standard and it is Geosyntec's opinion that dilution of dewatering groundwater with other stormwater and/or surface water will not result in an exceedance of the associated standard in surface water. We look forward to your review of these results. Please do not hesitate to contact Kaitlyn Rhonehouse (910-372-6402 or khonehouse@geosytnec.com) if you have any questions. Surface Water Standards refer to the lowest applicable Title 15A North Carolina Administrative Code (NCAC) 02B Water Quality Standards for Surface Waters (Fresh & Salt Waters Fish Consumption or Saltwater Aquatic Life & Secondary Recreation with chronic/acute use, when applicable) unless otherwise noted. 2. Surface Water Classification for the Site: Northeast Cape Fear River SC; Sw. 3. Surface Water Classification SC: All tidal salt waters protected for seondary recreation such as fishing, boating, and other activities involving minimal skin contact; fish and noncommercial shellfish consumption; aquatic life propagation and survival; and wildlife. 4. Surface Water Classification Sw: Supplemental classification intended to recognize those water which have low velocities and other natural characterisitcs which are different from adjacent streams. 5. NC indicates no criteria for SC; Sw surface waters. 6. * indicates the Surface Water Standards are explained in 15A NCAC 02B .0223 and/or .0224 for this analyte. These subchapters provide additional criteria for Nutrient Sensitive and High Quality Waters (respectively); no criteria is listed for SC; Sw surface waters. 7. 1 indicates the standard presented is for Freshwater Class C (Aquatic Life & Secondary Recreation) surface waters. No critera is available for SC; Sw surface waters. 8. 11 indicates the standards presented are those for chronic and acute (chronic/acute) use. 9. µg/L indicates micrograms per liter. 10. Analytes that exceeded the Surface Water Standards are highlighted in blue. 11. Only analytes detected in the sample are included in this table.
