ECS's water sampling services were provided in accordance with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Division of Waste Management (DWM) Brownfields Program (the Program) June 7, 2022 approved Environmental Management Plan (EMP). Included in this report is a description of the field activities, and the results obtained. On December 16, 2022, ECS mobilized to the subject site to collect one (1) water sample, identified as WS-5. The water sample was collected from an onsite 8,400-gallon FRAC tank utilizing new powder free nitrile gloves and a new dedicated disposable polyethylene bailer. The location of the FRAC tank is illustrated on Figure 3. Water in the FRAC tank was circulated with pumps and hosing just prior to the sampling event in order to provide for a representative water quality sample from the FRAC tank. The FRAC tank, was observed to be near 100% capacity at the time of sampling on December 16, 2022. The water contained in the FRAC tank was generated from precipitation which had accumulated in various open excavations on the Brownfields site and was not reinfiltrating at a rate which supported ongoing redevelopment activities in those areas. Following collection, the water sample, identified as WS-5, was submitted to Pace Analytical Services, Inc., a North Carolina certified laboratory located in Huntersville, NC (NC Certification No. 12) for analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using EPA Method 8260 and semi -volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) using EPA Method 8270. ECS maintained chain of custody (COC) procedures throughout the sample collection and transportation process. Laboratory analysis of WS-5 did not report targeted VOCs or SVOCs at concentrations above their respective laboratory method detection limits (MDLs). The laboratory analytical reports and a copy of the COC documentation are included as attachments. Therefore, based upon these results and in accordance with the Brownfields approved EMP, ECS recommended this water be managed on the site or discharged to the storm sewer in accordance with municipal, state, and federal requirements. ECS appreciates the opportunity to work with the Brownfields Program. If you have any questions concerning this report or this project, please contact us. Sincerely, ECS SOUTHEAST, ftoin- Nil. ND - Not Detected at or above adjusted reporting limit. TNTC - Too Numerous To Count J - Estimated concentration above the adjusted method detection limit and below the adjusted reporting limit. MDL -Adjusted Method Detection Limit. PQL - Practical Quantitation Limit. RL - Reporting Limit - The lowest concentration value that meets project requirements for quantitative data with known precision and bias for a specific analyte in a specific matrix. S - Surrogate 1,2-Diphenylhydrazine decomposes to and cannot be separated from Azobenzene using Method 8270. The result for each analyte is a combined concentration. Consistent with EPA guidelines, unrounded data are displayed and have been used to calculate % recovery and RPD values. LCS(D) - Laboratory Control Sample (Duplicate) MS(D) - Matrix Spike (Duplicate) DUP - Sample Duplicate RPD - Relative Percent Difference NC - Not Calculable. SG - Silica Gel - Clean -Up U - Indicates the compound was analyzed for, but not detected. Acid preservation may not be appropriate for 2 Chloroethylvinyl ether. A separate vial preserved to a pH of 4-5 is recommended in SW846 Chapter 4 for the analysis of Acrolein and Acrylonitrile by EPA Method 8260. N-Nitrosodiphenylamine decomposes and cannot be separated from Diphenylamine using Method 8270. The result reported for each analyte is a combined concentration. Reported results are not rounded until the final step prior to reporting. Therefore, calculated parameters that are typically reported as "Total" may vary slightly from the sum of the reported component parameters. Pace Analytical is TNI accredited. Contact your Pace PM for the current list of accredited analytes. TN -The NELAC Institute. ANALYTE QUALIFIERS E Analyte concentration exceeded the calibration range. The reported result is estimated. M1 Matrix spike recovery exceeded QC limits. Batch accepted based on laboratory control sample (LCS) recovery. MS Analyte recovery in the matrix spike was outside QC limits for one or more of the constituent analytes used in the calculated result. R1 RPD value was outside control limits. v1 The continuing calibration verification was above the method acceptance limit. Any detection for the analyte in the associated samples may have a high bias.
