Dear Mr. Drew:
I wanted to reach out to you to let you know that I appreciated discussing this site with
Jonathan Kucera of AECOM. I feel that we have forged a good plan to move forward with this site
and I look forward to continuing to work with AkzoNobel to bring this site to closure. With that
said, and as discussed with Jonathan, the following items need to be addressed:
1. A case narrative for the groundwater sampling results was not included in the report. A case
narrative is important because it explains in detail any problems that the lab had when they
analyzed the samples. This information will need to be added to the report.
2. It was also noted in the report that air-sampling analytical data was included. A discussion
concerning this information along with an evaluation of potential vapor intrusion risks to
onsite buildings needs to be included in the report.
3. To help streamline the sampling data in the report, please only include the results for the last
three years for comparison in the main section of the report. This will allow for an easier
review of the data. The expanded historical analytical data can be included in an appendix.
4. Concerning the June sampling, this data needs to be separated from the year-end monitoring
report. This will allow for a timelier review of the data. Consequently, please submit the June
2024 report separately.
5. Based on a review of the subject report, additional groundwater assessment needs to be
considered, particularly where monitoring well TW-22 is located. Additionally, a proposal to
enhance or expand the remediation system needs to be submitted. These proposals can be
submitted with the June 2024 sampling report as a proposed RAP addendum.

6. For future surface water sampling, please add sample location SW-3 back into the sampling
plan. This will help ensure that the creek is not impacted further down gradient.
7. Finally, the subject report was not sealed. Please resubmit an electronic copy of the report
with the appropriate PG or PE stamp along with the above changes.
Please submit the revised Active Remediation Progress report within 30 days of receipt
of this letter. If you have any questions, please contact me at (919) 508-7121 or by email at

Sincerely,
