Denver, North Carolina Catawba County Incident Number: 3898 GRI Project Number: 2099 Dear Mr. Newton: GRI presents the results of the water supply well water sampling activities at the Express Food Mart site in Denver, North Carolina. The activities were conducted in response to the September 28, 2023, correspondence from NCDEQ. On December 21, 2023, GRI personnel sampled two water supply wells in the vicinity of the Express Food Mart. The two water supply wells are located at the Little property and the Lineberger property. A summary of field observations and analytical results for each property follows:  Little Water Supply Well o The Little water supply well sample was collected from the spigot on the front of the residence. o The sample collected from the Little water supply well was placed in laboratory supplied bottles and placed in a cooler on ice. The samples were submitted to Waypoint Analytical in Charlotte, North Carolina under standard chain-of-custody protocol for laboratory analyses of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method 6200B and 1,2- dibromoethane (EDB) by EPA Method 504.1. o All contaminant concentrations were below the MACs. A concentration of chloroform that did not exceed the MAC was reported in the WSW-Little sample.  Lineberger Water Supply Well o The Lineberger water supply well is now back in service. The Lineberger water supply well sample was collected from the spigot on the back of the residence. The samples were submitted to Waypoint Analytical in Charlotte, North Carolina under standard chain-of-custody protocol for laboratory analyses of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method 6200B and 1,2- dibromoethane (EDB) by EPA Method 504.1. o All contaminant concentrations were below the MACs. A concentration of chloroform that did not exceed the MAC was reported in the WSW-Lineberger sample. A trip blank was also submitted for analysis of VOCs by EPA Method 6200B. No detectable concentrations of requested method constituents that exceeded the MACs were reported in the trip blank. A copy of the laboratory analytical report is included as Appendix A. GRI recommends contacting the current property owners of the Little and Lineberger water supply wells to determine if they would be agreeable to connecting to the available municipal water source and abandoning their water supply wells.
