(WR) has prepared this Letter Report documenting the completion of monitoring and recovery well abandonment activities at the B&G Grocery site located at 2896 East Maiden Road, Maiden, Catawba County, North Carolina. Activities outlined herein were completed under NCDEQ Contract # N70522-C, Task Authorization (TA) 02 for the site, issued by NCDEQ on October 3, 2023. WR mobilized to the site on October 11-12, 2023 to complete the abandonment of monitoring and recovery wells MW-1, MW-4R, MW-6, MW-9R, MW-11, MW-12, MW-13, MW-15, VRQ-3, OBS- 1, RW-1, RW-2, RW-3, RW-4, RW-5, RW-6, RW-7, RW-8, RW-9, RW-10, RW-13, RW-14, RW-15, RW-16, RW-17, and RW-18. The activities completed in association with this TA are discussed in the following paragraphs. Monitoring & Recovery Well Abandonments Monitoring wells MW-1, MW-4R, MW-6, MW-9R, MW-11, MW-12, MW-13, MW-15, VRQ-3, OBS-1 were gauged on October 11-12, 2023 using a decontaminated electronic oil/water interface meter. No light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) was measured within the wells. Each monitoring well was abandoned through the emplacement of 3/8-in dia. bentonite chips to within 1-ft of each wells’ top of casing (TOC). The remainder of each well was filled with neat cement grout extending out of the TOC filling the monitoring well manways. WithersRavenel Our People. Your Success.
