Trade Street Winston-Salem, Forsyth County Brownfields Project No. 24050-20-034 Dear Mr. McClatchey, The NC Department of Environmental Quality’s Brownfields Redevelopment Section (DEQ Brownfields) received and reviewed the Sub-Slab Soil Vapor Sampling Report (July 2023) (Report) dated August 11, 2023, submitted on your behalf by Ms. Laura Elliot with Terracon Consultants. The Report details the re-sampling of sub-slab vapor at points SV-2 and SV-4. DEQ Brownfields evaluated the data using the DEQ Risk Calculator, and the calculated risks for sub-slab vapor are below the DEQ thresholds for residential use. Further, the calculated risks demonstrate a decreasing trend between each sampling event at SV-2 and SV-4. Consequently, DEQ Brownfields finds that the sampling was conducted in accordance with the DEQ-approved Sub-Slab Soil Vapor Sampling Work Plan dated September 20, 2022, and satisfies Land-Use Restriction 13.k of the Notice of Brownfields Property recorded July 21, 2022. Be advised that this approval from DEQ Brownfields does not waive any applicable requirement to obtain any necessary permits, licenses, or certifications for the above referenced activities nor does it waive any requirement to comply with applicable law for such activities. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (984) 275-5391 or by e-mail at peter.doorn@deq.nc.gov. Sincerely, Peter L.
