(Formerly The Pantry), ATC Associates of North Carolina, P.C. (ATC) has prepared this letter report to provide a summary of light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) recovery and results of the recent groundwater sampling event performed at the facility. A site vicinity map is provided as Figure 1 and a site map is provided as Figure 2. AFVR Event On May 11, 2022, ATC supervised the performance of an AFVR event at the site to assist in LNAPL recovery. Prior to the initiation of AFVR activities, depths to LNAPL and groundwater were measured in monitoring well MW-3. LNAPL was measured in monitoring well MW-3 at a thickness of 0.40 feet. The AFVR event included a single connection to well MW-3 for a 480-minute period. A stinger pipe consisting of one-inch flexible hose was used to connect between the truck vacuum line and the monitoring well. The stinger pipe in monitoring well MW-3 was lowered to an approximate depth of 8 feet below ground surface (bgs). The stinger pipe was adjusted to 10 feet bgs at 0850 and to 12 feet bgs at 0905. The stinger pipe was not adjusted during the remainder of the event. The annuli between the stinger pipe assembly and the well casing was sealed to minimize vacuum loss. AFVR activities were initiated at 0800 hours. At 1605 hours, the AFVR event concluded. Throughout the AFVR event, operative parameters from the exhaust stack on the vacuum truck were measured at 15-minute intervals for the first two hours and at 30-minute intervals for the remaining six hours. Using a photoionization detector (PID), total volatile organic compound (VOC) readings from the September 14, 2022 Page 2 of 3 exhaust stack ranged from 130.7 parts per million (ppm) to 159.2 ppm during the event. The truck vacuum gauge reading registered at 21 inches of mercury throughout the event. It should be noted the monitoring equipment malfunctioned for the first 2 hours of the event and during the last 90 minutes of the event. An average readings were used for these time periods. During the AFVR event, a total of 46 gallons of LNAPL and petroleum-impacted groundwater was recovered. A copy of the vacuum truck specification is included in Attachment I. Eastern Environmental Management, LLC of Rocky Mount, North Carolina disposed of the recovered fluid. The disposal manifest is included in Attachment I. Using the PID readings of the exhaust stack, air emission calculations indicated approximately 4.82 pounds (0.90821 gallons) of petroleum vapors were emitted through the exhaust stack. AFVR field measurements and emissions calculations are provided in Table 1. Groundwater Sampling On August 22, 2022, ATC collected a static water level measurements from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-5, MW-6, and DW-1. Light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) was measured in the monitoring well MW-3 at a thickness of 0.69 feet on this date. Monitoring well MW-2 was dry on this date. The depth to water measurements were collected using an electronic oil/water interface probe. A summary of groundwater elevation data is provided in Table 2. A groundwater elevation contour map is provided as Figure 3. It appears groundwater flow in a north-northwestern direction across the site. On August 22, 2022, groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-5, MW-6, and DW-1, following standard sampling protocols. The groundwater samples were collected into laboratory-approved containers, packed in ice, and delivered under chain-of-custody to SGS North America, Inc. (SGS) in Scott, Louisiana, for analyses. The groundwater samples collected from the monitoring wells were analyzed by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 6200B. Select natural attenuation measurements are provided in Table 3. Laboratory analytical results detected dissolved benzene and naphthalene concentrations exceeding the established 2B x 10 Surface Water Standards in the groundwater sample collected from monitoring well MW-1. LNAPL was detected in monitoring well MW-3. Other dissolved target compound concentrations were detected in the other wells sampled; however, the concentrations were below the established 2B x 10 Surface Water Standards. A summary of the groundwater analytical data is provided in Table 4. Dissolved contaminants of concern are provided on Figure 4. A copy of the laboratory analytical report is included as Attachment II. tr&***fl*lry*"#Rt tw September 14,2022 Page 3 of3 rs$ocrAtrs 0a I0irI cAR0ilr{A.
