The North Carolina Division of Waste Management (DWM) is conducting an environmental assessment at the referenced site. As part of the assessment, a water sample was collected from a supply well located at the site on June 14, 2010. According to the laboratory analysis performed on a water sample, the well contained benzene and methyl tertiary butyl ether at concentrations of 63 micrograms per liter (µg/l), and 28 µg/l, respectively. The current North Carolina 2L Standards for benzene and methyl tertiary butyl ether are one µg/l and 20 µg/l, respectively. The DWM will complete a health risk evaluation on the testing data, and the HRE will be forwarded to you upon completion. Since the samples contained contaminants at concentrations exceeding the 2L standards, the DWM recommends utilizing bottled water for cooking and drinking.
