Waters Edge Job No. R1-06
Dear Mr. Rogers:
Waters Edge Environmental, LLC (Waters Edge) is pleased to submit this report summarizing the
quarterly influent/effluent sampling event conducted on May 3, 2017 at the Highland/Takata
facility located in Kernersville, North Carolina. The influent and effluent were grab sampled as
specified in the NCDEQ; Division of Water Quality permit number WQ0006751. The influent
detected 58,500 ug/L total VOCs with the only constituents being toluene. The effluent detected
1,940 ug/L toluene and 1.8 ug/L benzene for a removal efficiency of 96.68% which is above the
95% removal rate specified in the permit but the effluent does exceed the North Carolina
Groundwater Standard (NCGS) for toluene at 600 ug/L and benzene at 1 ug/L. We have included
Form GW-59 in Appendix A and documentation in Appendix B. These forms have also been
submitted to the NCDEQ Central Files located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Based on the results
exceeding NCGS, we will mobilize an environmental technician to perform additional O&M to
increase the efficiency.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this report, please contact Phillip L. Rahn at

Sincerely,

DEFINITIONS
DF - Dilution Factor, if reported, represents the factor applied to the reported data due to dilution of the sample aliquot.
ND - Not Detected at or above adjusted reporting limit.
J - Estimated concentration above the adjusted method detection limit and below the adjusted reporting limit.
MDL - Adjusted Method Detection Limit.
PQL - Practical Quantitation Limit.
RL - Reporting Limit.
S - Surrogate
1,2-Diphenylhydrazine decomposes to and cannot be separated from Azobenzene using Method 8270. The result for each analyte is
a combined concentration.
Consistent with EPA guidelines, unrounded data are displayed and have been used to calculate % recovery and RPD values.
LCS(D) - Laboratory Control Sample (Duplicate)
MS(D) - Matrix Spike (Duplicate)
DUP - Sample Duplicate
RPD - Relative Percent Difference
NC - Not Calculable.
SG - Silica Gel - Clean-Up
U - Indicates the compound was analyzed for, but not detected.
Acid preservation may not be appropriate for 2 Chloroethylvinyl ether.
A separate vial preserved to a pH of 4-5 is recommended in SW846 Chapter 4 for the analysis of Acrolein and Acrylonitrile by EPA
Method 8260.
N-Nitrosodiphenylamine decomposes and cannot be separated from Diphenylamine using Method 8270. The result reported for
each analyte is a combined concentration.
Pace Analytical is TNI accredited. Contact your Pace PM for the current list of accredited analytes.
TNI - The NELAC Institute.
