Brownfields Property Mount Gilead, Montgomery County Brownfields Project Number 25054-21-062 Dear Mr. James: The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Brownfields Program received and reviewed the Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System Installation Report (Report) Revision 1 dated December 9, 2022, submitted on your behalf by of Hanley Environmental Engineering & Consulting, PLLC. DEQ Brownfields understands this building has been constructed in accordance with the Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System (VIMS) Design Report Revision 2 dated June 29, 2022 and VIMS Design Addendum dated July 29, 2022. DEQ Brownfields reviewed the analytical data provided in the Report and evaluated the analytical data using the DEQ Risk Calculator. The results of this evaluation were below the DEQ thresholds for non-residential use. Based on the available data, DEQ Brownfields has determined that the Dollar General Building is currently in compliance with Land Use Restriction 13.i of the recorded Notice of Brownfields Property. DEQ Brownfields understands that ongoing annual sub-slab soil gas monitoring will be completed in accordance with the approved VIMS. Please be advised that this compliance review from DEQ Brownfields does not waive any applicable requirement to obtain any necessary permits, licenses or certifications which may be required from other state or local entities.
