Gilead, Montgomery County Brownfields Project No. 25054-21-062 Dear Mr. Hanely: The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Brownfields Program (NC Brownfields) received and reviewed the Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System Design Addendum #1 dated August 10, 2022. DEQ Brownfields has found this VIMP Modification Request to be in compliance with Land Use Restriction 13.i.2. of the Notice of Brownfields Property and DEQ approval of the VIMS Design Report Rev 2 dated June 29, 2022. Consistent with the Brownfields agreement for this project, an essential component of public health protection for this design is the professional engineer’s seal of these documents that the proposed design will be effective at mitigating the potential for vapor intrusion at the property and protecting public health. Furthermore, the safe occupancy of the building will be evaluated upon “Post- Construction and Pre-Occupancy System Effectiveness Testing” as required by Section 5.0 of the VIMS Construction Completion Report and as modified by above referenced VIMP Modification Request. In addition, DEQ Brownfields reserves the authority to require confirmation of efficacy in the future. Please be advised that this compliance review from DEQ Brownfields does not waive any applicable requirement to obtain any necessary permits, licenses or certifications which may be required from other state or local entities.
