Buildings are used for assembling wooden furniture frames that arrive as a flatpack, and with one Summary: N/A Brownfields Inspection Report: Wentworth Furniture, Former, 21006-17-018 09/08/2021 3:02 PM Page 3 of 7 Use of Basements: Not Observed Basement Violation: No Storage of Chemicals: Observed Chemical Violation: No Groundwater Monitoring Wells: Observed Monitoring Well Violation: Unknown Current Exposure to Public/Public Risk: Summary: N/A Summary: During the site inspection, some chemicals were observed at the site, although they appeared to meet the requirements of Land Use Restriction (LUR) M in the Notice of Brownfields Properties (NBP). Water soluble wood glue was present in two 55-gallon drums (Photo 5) and was used to assemble furniture frames and cabinetry, and the lubricant WD-40 (Photo 2) was used in the machine shop portion of the shop. MSDS for both indicated they did not contain constituents listed in the Exhibit 2 of the NBP. Condition: Unknown Summary: Flush mount monitoring well vaults appeared in good condition. However, six unlabled 55-gallon drums present on-site that contan drill cuttings according to Mr. Carfaro (Photo 6). Did not open drums to confirm if purge water may also be present. PHOTOGRAPHS Photo 1: Front of facility facing south. Smaller detached tan storage building visible on far left. This was the second attempt made to perform a Site Inspection at the Wentworth Furniture property, with the first being an unannounced visit made on August 31, 2021. The property owner was not onsite, and after staff reached Mr. Carfaro by phone, I was not given access to the facility, and asked if I could come back when Mr. Carfaro was present so he could lead me through the plant. I agreed to this request and returned on September 8, 2021 after arranging inspection time with Mr. Carfaro. WD-40 (visible on milling machine), and small quantities of grease were only chemicals used in machine shop. Monitoring wells observed appeared in good condition. Photo 7: Six unlabeled drums of soil from monitoring well installation according to Mr. Carfaro. Recommended environmental consultant be contacted so that drums could be disposed of properly prior to them being accidently disposed of or rusting out and causing a release.
