This report requests approval to import soil from the Martin Marietta - Bakers Quarry (Permit 90-02) located at 2111 N. Rocky River Rd., Monroe, Union County, North Carolina. Based on review of the data, the DEQ Brownfields Program notes that the soil from the Martin Marietta - Bakers Quarry was adequately characterized by the soil samples presented in the Report. The data presented shows that no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) were detected above any DEQ Preliminary Soil Remediation Goals (PSRGs) in the soil from the Martin Marietta - Bakers Quarry borrow source. Additionally, detected concentrations of metals in the Martin Marietta - Bakers Quarry borrow source are present at comparable concentrations to those of the Brownfields Property. Based on a toxicological risk assessment using the DEQ Risk Calculator, import from the Martin Marietta - Bakers Quarry borrow source will not raise the current level of toxicological risk or negatively impact the Brownfields Property. As such, import from the Martin Marietta - Bakers Quarry is hereby approved. Please be advised that this compliance review from DEQ Brownfields does not waive any applicable requirement to obtain any necessary permits, licenses or certifications which may be required from other state or local entities.
