Former Fleming Lab Sub Slab Depressurization System Monitoring
February 17, 2020
DES provided a TSI model 9565 with 964 probe to collect vacuum and air flow measurements of
sub slab vapor points while Vapor Intrusion Blower System is in operation. It is worth
mentioning that interior of building remains under construction.
Measurements were collected at SS-1, SS-2, SS-3 and SS-4 vapor pins which were
installed in floor slab.
Measurements were collected at sixteen riser points.
Riser points SP1-2, SP1-5, SP4-3, SP4-5 and SP4-6 gate valves are closed and not in use.
Riser points SP1-1 and SP1-6 could not be located due to interior building construction.
Riser point SP2-1 port opening next to wall framing and was unable to access.
Riser points SP1-4, SP3-5 and SP4-5 have been moved next to interior wall to open
flooring space. Former points remain open in concrete allowing ambient air to be pulled
back under slab.
Blower system # 3 / Riser # 1 (SP3-1) has a broken gate valve, handle is missing and
appears that valve body is damaged. Noticeable air leaking at valve.
Damaged gate valve was discovered during the June 2019 inspection.
During construction, electrical components are now housed in a separate room.
Blower B1, B2, B3 and B4 Dwyer Magnahelic gauges are each reading zero.
Sensaphone showing Alarm status, and Alarm warning light OFF. Appears tubing
network isn’t connected to riser trunk lines or kinked off, no pressure on tubing.
Noticeable air leaking from above head piping network in center of building.
Measurements were collected at inlet side of each Blower Unit, B1, B2, B3 and B4.
Note: Blower Unit # 1 wiring exposed – conduit missing.
Verified piping and connections were secured.
Verified support fasteners were secured. See images and notes on attached table.
Sub Slab vacuum and air flow measurements shown in attached table.
