Dear Carolyn:

Hart & Hickman, PC (H&H) has prepared this letter to summarize groundwater monitoring well
abandonment activities recently completed at the Battery & Ignition Distribution Brownfields
property (Brownfields Project No. 23055-19-066) located at Tryclan Drive and Ellenwood Place
in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina (Site or subject Site). A Site location map is
provided as Figure 1.

Three (3) monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3) were installed in the northwestern corner
of the Site in June 1989 during assessment activities associated with a former 8,000-gallon diesel
underground storage tank (UST). According to information provided in available files, the most
recent groundwater samples from the monitoring wells were collected on June 20, 1989 and no
further assessment has been conducted under the direction of the North Carolina Department of
Environmental Quality (DEQ) UST Section. The approximate locations of the monitoring wells
are shown in Figure 2.
