ECS Southeast, LLP 1812 Center Park Drive, Suite D Charlotte, NC 28217 Tel: (704) 525-5152 Email: correll@ecslimited.com Re: VMS Influence Pilot Testing JW Marriott Charlotte, NC Dear Mr. Orrell, ECS Southeast, LLP requested EAI South to perform VMS influence pilot testing to evaluate the current performance and functionality of the sub-slab depressurization system at the above-referenced site. Andrew Deonas from EAI South completed the communication test at the site on April 26th, 2021. A representative from ECS was also present as a third-party witness. Please find below a summary of the testing investigation and recommendations. Equipment/Tools: The blower used in the influence testing at this location is the RP265 Radon Fan Pro Series from RadonAway. The RP265 is an energy-efficient blower that can achieve an airflow of 375 cubic feet per minute (cfm) at a pressure of 0” WC. The micromanometer used was the VelociCalc Multi-Function Ventilaton Meter 9565 from TSI. Other blower package accessories, such as transition couplings and fittings, were used as well. Photos of equipment used are included below. Test Method: Testing began with recording of the project, date, weather conditions, and the SSDS area to be monitored. The EAI representative then located the two risers at roof level, Riser 1 and Riser 2. An electric power supply was then run to each riser and a baseline reading was recorded. To obtain the baseline reading, the micromanometer was zeroed at each monitoring point’s P1 port. Three tests were run to obtain a vacuum response reading at each monitoring point. The first test measured vacuum response when the blower at each riser was turned on, while the second and third tests measured vacuum response when one blower was turned on and the other was turned off with the corresponding riser ball valve turned off as well. Each of the three tests were run for each of the 10 monitoring points. To perform the tests, blowers were hooked up with a PVC spacer at a hole about 1’ down from the fan at each riser. The micromanometer was zeroed and vacuum in inches water (in. WC) and velocity in meters per second (m/s) were measured with the blower fans running for each individual test. Following this, vacuum response readings for each individual monitoring point were recorded with both blower fans running. This process was repeated for each monitoring point for the second test with the Riser 1 blower turned on and the Riser 2 blower turned off. This process was repeated for a third time for each monitoring point for the third test with the Riser 1 blower turned off and the Riser 2 blower turned on. 604 North 14th Street Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 Office: (904) 844-2148 Fax: (904) 432-7059 www.eaienviro.com Page 2 of 5 Fig. 1 – Image of riser penetration at roof with blower fan attached 604 North 14th Street Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 Office: (904) 844-2148 Fax: (904) 432-7059 www.eaienviro.com Page 3 of 5 Fig. 2 – Image of vacuum testing with micromanometer with blower fan and transition coupling in background 604 North 14th Street Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 Office: (904) 844-2148 Fax: (904) 432-7059 www.eaienviro.com Page 4 of 5 Fig. 3 – Close-up image of micromanometer screen readout during testing 604 North 14th Street Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 Office: (904) 844-2148 Fax: (904) 432-7059 www.eaienviro.com Page 5 of 5 Sub-Slab Depressurization System Communication Test Results: Riser 1: - Vacuum at Extraction Point: 2.16” WC - Air Velocity at Extraction Point: 0.72 m/s Riser 2: - Vacuum at Extraction Point: 1.92” WC - Air Velocity at Extraction Point: 69 m/s Monitoring Point (MP) Vacuum Baseline/Response: MP ID Number Existing Wind Turbine MP Vacuum Baseline (in. The weather at the time of testing was clear and 74°F with little to no wind. Passive system baseline readings at all 10 monitoring point locations with the existing wind turbines attached to Riser 1 and Riser 2 were read and recorded as 0.000” WC. “Riser 1 & 2 MP Vacuum Baseline” data shows the vacuum response with blowers at Riser 1 and Riser 2 turned on. “Riser 1 MP Vacuum Response” shows the vacuum response at the monitoring point locations with only the Riser 1 blower activated, and “Riser 2 MP Vacuum Response” shows the vacuum response at the monitoring point locations with only the Riser 2 blower activated. Thus, data shown in this report reflect active system measurements. The data recorded by the field technician also reflects the need for 2 blowers if the need arises to cover the entire sub-slab building footprint. In the third test, when only the Riser 2 blower was activated, the MP-1 location gave a vacuum response of 0.000” WC. This means that Riser 2 will has no influence on monitoring point at this location due to the distance from Riser 2 to MP-1. Based on these findings, the system functions as designed with complete influence underground. 604 North 14th Street Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 Office: (904) 844-2148 Fax: (904) 432-7059 www.eaienviro.com Attachment 3 CETCO Certified Installer’s Qualification Colloid Environmental Technologies Company 2870 Forbs Ave Hoffman Estates, IL 60192, USA Phone: 847-851-1800 Zarah Thanasides, PE EAI South 604 North 14th Street Fernandina Beach, FL 32034 RE: Liquid Boot Applicator Certification Dear Zarah, I am writing this letter to confirm that as of the date of this letter the EAI South certification as an approved Liquid Boot Vapor Barrier System installer is up to date and in-force.
