Environmental Name: Alamac American (West Side) City: Lumberton Current Use of Property: Commercial/Retail Structures on Property: Existing Structures Violation: No County: Robeson Summary: Large brick and metal manufacturing facility. The bulk of the building is vacant and unused. The NE portion of the building is in use as a sawmill operation to cut railroad ties. No wood treatment is done onsite at this time. Vapor Mitigation Systems: Not Observed Vapor Mitigation Violation: No Summary: No vapor mitigation system was observed at the site. Use of Surface Water or Groundwater: Not Observed Water Use Violation: No Summary: No usage of groundwater was observed. However, a groundwater pump and treat system is operational at the site. At the time of the inspection one of the three recovery wells was down due to electrical issues. Recovery wells #1 and #2 were operational. Exposed Soils: Not Observed Exposed Soils Violation: No Summary: No exposed soils were observed at the site during this inspection. Inspector Comments This inspection was conducted on the western portion of the BF property. The inspection was conducted as a routine inspection, but with the added goal of determining if the site was being occupied and used. The site is being occupied and utilized as a sawmill operation to cut railroad ties. No wood treatment is done at the site. The sawmill operation utilizes the NE corner of the facility only. Several offices may be used in the west central portion of the building, however were not actually observed.
