It show sample locations and the proximity to previous sampling. The borrow site is currently being developed. The sample SS-1 is a composite of three aliquots from a disturbed soil pile (about 1,200 CY generated when a storm sewer line was excavated in the borrow area). The sample SS-2 is a composite of other disturbed soil (also from storm sewer installation, about 800 CY). Samples SS-3, 4 and 5 are each composites (1.5, 3 and 4 feet) from undisturbed soil (about 100 feet by 160 feet, about 3,000 CY). 3) Hex chromium was not run because the lab turnaround time for 7199 has been incredibly long and we have an abundance of data (7 samples) for a total of approximately 11,000 CY (previous testing for about 6,000 CY and 5,000 CY this time of assessed potential fill) from the borrow site showing hex chromium by 7199 as non -detected. There is no history of industrial development of the borrow site (residential/ag land). 4) The additional testing was conducted to assess approximately 5,000 CY — the disturbed soil in SS-1 is about 1,200 CY, the disturbed soil for SS-2 is about 800 CY. The in -place soil is about 100 by 160 by 5 (3,000 CY). This was divided into three sections for 3 separate samples (SS-3, SS-4 and SS-5). 5) We hand augured to 5 feet. We visually screened the soil from the borings for evidence of contamination. Our default aliquots were collected at 1.5, 3 and 4 feet BLS for the undisturbed soil. We used default in all sample locations since there was no evidence of contamination. VOC sampling was collected from 1.5 foot aliquot for the undisturbed samples. I hope this answers your questions. I sent him the information in this email on Monday, but it does not appear that he has responded. I was wondering if you could review/approve the use of the soil we recently tested. The tabulated results are attached. The PD needed more fill than originally tested for (which Kelly approved the use of on September 23, 2019), so we collected the samples summarized in the table above directly adjacent to the area we had originally sampled (I attached the table summarizing this data to this email for your convenience). Dan Hey Kelly, The PD needed to import additional soil so we ran out and collected some additional fill samples on October 2, 2019. These were collected in areas directly adjacent to the locations we sampled earlier. The results are the similar as well. We tested a volume of about 5,000 CY so we got 5 more samples. Since these samples were collected so close to the others (collected on September 5 and 6, 2019), we did not run any additional hexavalent chromium (we already had seven samples tested for hexavalent by 7199- all ND). The sub lab Prism uses is taking a solid two weeks to turn around 7199 and that would put us way behind the construction schedule. The total chromium number are very similar for both sampling events as well. Each rectangle would still have 4 hand auger borings (12 total borings). For in situ sampling, we will need a composite sampling approach that allows us to understand the contaminant levels at each depth interval, instead of compositing both depth intervals together. For each of the three 'rectangles', create composite samples for each depth interval (1 foot and 4 foot) so that each of the four 'rectangles' has 1 composite sample (of the four borings) at 1 foot and 1 composite sample (of the four borings) at 4 feet. This means that the laboratory will run 6 composites total for SVOCs and 8-RCRA metals from the 12 total hand auger locations. Yes, have the lab run a lab-composited sample for VOCs. The soil for VOC analysis should be immediately placed in the lab -supplied container after retrieving it with the hand auger. There should be 6 VOC analyses total (3 at 1 foot, 3 at 4 feet). Assuming the results come back favorable, you will need to have staff present at the source site when they are excavating and loading the fill to ensure that it's sourced from the same location that you collected the samples. Just a heads up that I will be out of the office tomorrow and off for Labor Day. -Kelly Mr. Kelly G. Johnson, P.G. The GC reports that the site was once a 50-acre farm that is getting redeveloped. The cut area is at the back of the site approximately 1,000 feet from the former dwellings/barns on the site. The cut is approximately 5 feet deep. We will confirm this when we arrive on site to collect the samples (tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday). We will plan on hand auguring the soil insitu (no stockpile). Since the volume we need is up to 4,000 cy, we will divide the area into four blocks, each roughly 1,000 cy in volume. We will place four soil borings in each block, spread to provide good coverage of the block. From each boring we will collect a sample at 1 foot and 4 feet, so 8 aliquots will be collected from each block. These will be composited to create the sample for SVOC and RCRA metals testing. I am not quite sure I am following you on the VOCs. I would typically pick the highest TVA reading of the 8 aliquots from each block and run that for VOCs. That would be one sample from each block, a total of 4. But it sounds like you want the lab to run a lab-composited sample for VOCs? Maybe you could provide a little clarification? Dan Daniel H. (this would be the easier method). Due to your timing — I'll go ahead and outline the requirements for the stockpile sampling: 1 sample per 1,000 cy assuming it is sourced from a location of the residential property you described away from the home or any possible heating oil tanks (this must be confirmed).
