Send all suspicious email as an attachment to Report Spam. <mailto:report.spam@nc.gov> Sarah: I visited the property this morning and no storage containers or containment structures were involved. The fire began in a truck parked inside the west side of the maintenance portion of the building. Apparently electrical in nature. A picture showing the source area and associated damage is attached. Regarding your recent question about the scale house building, the structure is still present at the site but is not being used. I am unaware of any current plans to demolish, refurbish, or use the structure in any manner. Please let us know if you have any other questions, comments, or concerns. Thanks. If the slab and soil will not be disturbed than we shouldn’t need a revised EMP. Please keep us appraised of the repairs just in case something does come up that involves soil disturbance, import, and export or an alteration to the slab. Also, can you confirm that there was not a release caused as a result of the fire? We would like to make sure that nearby storage containers and/or containment structures (if present) were not damaged or compromised during or as a result of the fire. Are pictures available showing (1) the areas damaged by the fire and (2) the location of the fire impacts on the building? The fire only affected the interior of the existing building on Tax Parcel 05212102. Part of the building is going to need interior rehabilitation and part of the building is operational. The slab of the building will not be disturbed; the exterior shell of the building remains in the area impacted by the fire. The fire did impact the roof and it will have to be repaired. I assume we do not need an EMP for interior building and roof repairs if the repairs are all interior to the building and soil will not be disturbed. We look forward to communication regarding the RCRA issues and the Toddville Road Parcel (Tax ID 05712218) later this week. Call me with any questions.
