DEQ Brownfields reviewed this document and continues to move forward in the brownfields process. Based on the work to date and indoor air results, active remediation is not necessary at this time. However, an additional indoor air sampling event will be required to confirm that the most recent concentrations detected are the norm following mitigation efforts at the property. The last indoor air sampling event was completed in February 2019; please schedule an additional indoor air sampling in the coming months. In the meantime, I will begin drafting the brownfields agreement. Prior to conducting field activities, a work plan should be submitted to DEQ for review and approval. The work plan should include a description of the sampling and analytical methods to be utilized and a map depicting the proposed sample locations based on previous assessments. The work plan and assessment work shall be done in accordance with the most recent version of the Inactive Hazardous Sites Program Guidelines for Assessment and Cleanup (http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/wm/sf/ihs/ihsguide) and the November 2018 DEQ Brownfields Assessment Work Plan Checklist (attached).
