Jones Street 1646 Mail Service Center Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1646 Subject: VIMS EXTRACTION POINT RELOCATION REPORT FORMER WURST FACILITY 810 LUFKIN ROAD APEX, NORTH CAROLINA BROWNFIELDS PROJECT NO. 18067-14-092 Dear Ms. Eckard: 409 Rogers View Court Raleigh, NC 27610 office 9:9,250.9918 facsimile 99,250.9950 MAAONLINE.COM On March 1, 2018 Jim Knoles of Spec Con informed the Brownfield Program of plans to modify the location of four extraction points associated with the Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System (VIMS) in operation at 810 Lufkin Road, Apex, North Carolina (former Wurst facility). These relocations were required to prepare the building for a new occupant. The new occupant is a concrete contractor that will use the space for offices and warehousing. The following is a summary of the planned relocations. The location of the extraction points are illustrated on the attached Drawing. • R-1 moved approximately 12" to the north and 7" to the east • R-2 moved approximately 3" to the north and 28" to the east • R-3 moved approximately 36" to the south • R-5 moved approximately 8" to the east On March 28, 2018, prior to the relocation of the extraction points, Mid -Atlantic collected one round of readings at each sub -slab monitoring point (see attached Table). PRM, the remediation contractor that constructed the VIMS, subsequently conducted the extraction point relocation. On May 18, 2018 Mid -Atlantic returned to the subject site to collect a post extraction point relocation set of data. These data are also included in the Table. When these data were collected, there were openings in the concrete floor in close proximity to monitoring points RM-2 and RM-4. These openings, temporarily cut into the floor for the placement of electrical utilities, significantly reduced the readings at RM-2 and RM-4. On May 23, 2018, after the openings in the floor had been closed with new concrete, Mid -Atlantic collected new readings from monitoring points RM-2 and RM-4 (see attached Table). EXPERIENCED CUSTOMEFt FOCUSED INNOVATIVE VIMS Extraction Point Relocation Report Former Wurst Facility 810 Lufkin Road, Apex, North Carolina May 29, 2018 Page 2 These data show the VIMS met the depressurization objective of 4 Pascal pressure differential before and after the extraction point relocation. These data indicate that no adverse impacts on the performance of the VIMS occurred as a result of the extraction point relocation. We appreciate the opportunity to submit this report. If you have any questions, please let me know.
